Educating Deprived Filipino Children

Alvin Pates is dedicated to change in the Philippines by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.

In keeping with this focus, Alvin Pates is involved with and supports projects that are secular and have an education-related component to them. The objectives are:

  1. To provide education to underprivileged children in the Philippines.
  2. To encourage the formation of various local groups across the world to reach out to larger sections of the population.
  3. To support and cooperate with persons and groups already engaged in similar activities.
  4. To raise the required human and other resources to achieve the group objectives.
  5. To provide opportunities to individuals living outside the Philippines who wish to participate activities.
  6. To address, whenever possible, other issues affecting human life such as health care, environment, socio-economic aspects and women’s issues.

Children are the future of a nation. For an emerging and developing country like the Philippines, development of deprived children holds the key to the progress of the nation. It is only through the education of these children that we can address problems regarding healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights.

Alvin Pates strongly believes that the desired changes in the lives of these underprivileged children around us will come, only when more and more privileged people proactively participate in finding solutions to problems.

As a Philanthropist, Alvin Pates promotes and catalyses universal education among underprivileged children, creates a process to embrace these children into mainstream in a sustained manner, facilitates them to emerge as productive assets, and set the foundation for nation building.

Because education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one’s rights – and in the process evolve as a better citizen.

Children are the future of a nation. For an emerging and developing country like the Philippines, development of underprivileged children holds the key to the progress of the nation itself.

Education for underprivileged Children is the key whether we are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights issues.
